Katakana For Embroidery

We now have three methods for adding your name in katakana for embroidery. Our first method is to click on the pop up box NAME IN KATAKANA that is embedded in the order form. The second utilizes an automatic translator that is very useful for most names. However, as with most computer generated language it is not always perfect so when you use it please remember to write the name that you want translated in the NOTES section at the bottom of the order form. For example, please write: " Translate KEN into katakana."

To use the automatic translator, click on this link http://www.mauvecloud.net/charsets/asian/fastromaji.html and a new window will open. First, type your name in English into the field titled:Romaji. Next click on the button titled: Convert Romaji. Now you should see the name in both the Japanese hiragana and katakana syllabaries. Next, Copy from Mauvecloud's Katakana box and Paste the katakana into the field on this website that you desire for embroidery.

Make sure that you write the translated name in English in the NOTES section at the bottom of the order form so that we can confirm the correct translation. Many thanks to Mauvecloud for his fabulous translator and kindness for letting us use it!

Our third method is for customers who basically know how to write their name in Japanese katakana and can COPY and PASTE from the unicode chart below. If you would like to confirm your name in Japanese then please see the following pages so that you can copy and paste correctly in our forms:

Some katakana characters can be joined together to create addtional sounds, such as combining ジ (Ji) and ョ (small yo) to make "jyo" sound, as in "John" (jyon; ジョン ). The extender line is used to elongate vowel sounds, such as in ピーター (Peter / Pi-ta-). Please see the below chart for more choices that you can copy & paste into our order forms.
