Product Description
The TSA Original kata do-gi is the original heavyweight uniform that was developed through extensive research and consultation with competitors of many styles and organizations to provide what is known worldwide as the Ultimate uniform. The TSA Original utilizes the strongest and heaviest no 10, 12 oz cotton canvas designed to endure the hardest wear to last. The heavier weight drapery folds enhance the distinctive “snap” sound made when doing techniques. This highest grade of cotton canvas provides twice the tensile strength and 20% more friction resistance for strong durability. Multiple stitches, reinforced seams and an extra wide and heavy skirt seam for extra strength. Cotton is the original wicking material that will keep moisture away from the body.

The uniform will shrink 2.2% in length and 1.8% in width.
Custom Embroidery
Tokaido Japan provides the highest quality embroidery in Japanese or English. No company can surpass the level of embroidery perfected by Tokaido. You may choose to embroider your style name and/or your personal name in the general locations designated in the uniform graphic. For Japanese text, please select from the pop up menus by clicking on the Kanji Style Names or the Names in Japanese Katakana below the field that you desire and then click on your choice. If your Style or Name is not in the menu then use this Google Translate link https://translate.google.com/#en/ja/ to CREATE and then COPY and PASTE into the field(s) you desire. We will confirm that the translation is correct before production. If you prefer English/Roman letters, then type directly in the field(s) of your choice.
Production Time
As with all uniforms that are made in Japan by Tokaido Japan, each uniform is made as it is ordered. This way we can ensure that you receive the best uniform possible. Currently all uniforms require 10 weeks for production.

Service and quality above all

I ordered a karate gi with great concern about the size. I consulted customer service and all my inquiries were answered quickly, with courtesy, patience and efficiency.
In the end I decided it was best to order a custom made gi and that's what I did.
The gi came with the wrong patch, and my call to customer service was answered immediately, that they apologized and produced me a new jacket.
I have never experienced such efficient customer service!
As for the gi itself - I have had a Tokaido gi for 30 years and it is still like new. I know their quality is above all. I have no doubt I will enjoy the gi I ordered. Hopefully for at least the next 30 years. ...

It was very unfortunate that the factory embroidered the incorrect chest embroidery. Of course we must remake it correctly at no charge to you.
Congratulations on your uniform use for more than 30 years. If you follow the washing instructions and always line dry the fabric will last and become even more comfortable. Enjoy.

I recently purchased two custom uniforms from Tokaido. Customer service were outstanding. They patiently altered my order as I adjusted the measurements, and also expedited the order after I had finally worked them out. It is just a matter of adjusting 11 measurements from previous uniforms that you own, and also referencing the Tokaido size charts. When the uniforms finally arrived, they were outstanding! The fit, material, and craftsmanship were second to none. They are definitely the most outstanding uniforms that I have ever purchased, and I have owned quite a few karate uniforms over the years. Thank you Tokaido for your exceptional service and products!

I ordered the Original ULTIMATE heavyweight uniform for an upcoming competition. I have been training for 33 years and received my 4 Dan last year. I am just over 175cm and ordered the size 5.5 which fits perfect in the torso and arm and leg length. I added 2 custom embroidery which were double clarified through email as my name was not listed and needed to be translated. The emails were fast and the customer care easy to communicate with. I received a prompt refund for over-payment of custom embroidery that was my fault. The shipping was fast via fedex even during the Covid crisis; 2 days from Japan to the east coast of the USA. The four week processing time for custom embroidery was exact to the day. This is my 3rd Tokaido uniform and I am very pleased with the quality and durability of these products.

Finally received my TSA Original Ultimate uniform! No doubt great quality! Embroidery was perfect too!
However size 5 for me with a height of 172 cm is still consider proportionally off overall. :(
I initially ordered the latest uniform (new size charts) but changed to original size chart. Feel like it is still based on the latest size chart?
- Sleeves are considerably short so I risk on the shrinkage side. Finger cross!
- Pants are huge and long even I rolled it up twice. Fortunately the waist part has a string to tighten it else I would have to buy a new one. I am considering to alter the length later after a few washing so will observe how it goes.
Overall satisfy with the product. Thank you.

The ultimate, is exactly that. 36 yrs of training 20 with Tokaido. Has always been my favorite, for competition and now training.
