Product Description
The YAKUDO 躍動 kata do-gi is the original heavyweight uniform that was developed through extensive research and consultation with competitors of many styles and organizations to provide what is known worldwide as the Ultimate uniform. The YAKUDO utilizes the strongest and heaviest no 10, 12 oz cotton canvas designed to endure the hardest wear to last. The heavier weight drapery folds enhance the distinctive “snap” sound made when doing techniques. This highest grade of cotton canvas provides twice the tensile strength and 20% more friction resistance for strong durability. Multiple stitches, reinforced seams and an extra wide and heavy skirt seam for extra strength. Cotton is the original wicking material that will keep moisture away from the body.

The uniform will shrink 2.2% in length and 1.8% in width.
Custom Embroidery
Tokaido Japan provides the highest quality embroidery in Japanese or English. No company can surpass the level of embroidery perfected by Tokaido. You may choose to embroider your style name and/or your personal name in the general locations designated in the uniform graphic. For Japanese text, please select from the pop up menus by clicking on the Kanji Style Names or the Names in Japanese Katakana below the field that you desire and then click on your choice. If your Style or Name is not in the menu then use this Google Translate link https://translate.google.com/#en/ja/ to CREATE and then COPY and PASTE into the field(s) you desire. We will confirm that the translation is correct before production. If you prefer English/Roman letters, then type directly in the field(s) of your choice.
Production Time
As with all uniforms that are made in Japan by Tokaido Japan, each uniform is made as it is ordered. This way we can ensure that you receive the best uniform possible. Currently unembroidered uniforms require 8 weeks and embroidered uniforms require 8 weeks.

I've been looking for a replacement gi for sometime, something heavyweight, good quality and the right cut. Having spoken to friends, who all recommended different makes, I went for a Tokaido gi. None of my fellow karateka had Tokaido uniforms but the internet reviews were by far the best and most consistent. I've now received my new gi. It took a little while to arrive but regular e-mails kept me informed throughout. It was worth the wait! The quality is immense, the attention to detail, there is not one stitch out of place, and the overall craftsmanship have absolutely met and exceeded my expectations. The sizing chart was accurate, the cut perfect. It is worth paying that little bit more for something that will last for years. I am a Tokaido customer for life.

Just received my Yakudo gi today and all I can say is OH MY GOD! It's super snappy heavy, heavy, super heavy, the cotton feels great and the embroidery is a joy to look at. I especially love the labels, they look really beautiful.
This is the real deal, and I'm saving it for my gradings and special training with my Shihan.

There is no comparison between Tokaido uniforms and the rest in the martial arts world. Totally in its own class. If you are a serious martial artist, then this is for you. Don't settle for any other. You won't regret it.

Top notch quality. Unparalleled by anything I've owned in the past. One warning though make sure to take accurate measurements before choosing your size. I will need to loose a few pounds to have it fit properly.

Hi, I have been wearing Tokaido Uniforms since I started training in 1992. I must say the uniforms are top shelf.. They fit extremely well. Which was difficult to find the right Gi for me. As I am 5'6" with athletic build. Tokaido fits me the best. The traditional cut sleeves are already done for you. The snap of the uniform is a loud crisp sound guaranteed to get attention of judges. Also the uniform can last 5 years to even 10 years. In my opinion Tokaido uniforms are the best of the best on the market. The recent purchase of the Yakuda Gi was for a student of mine. That recently tested for Black Belt. She is also among the top in school. This uniform was my gift to her. She loves it. Compared to standard student uniforms this uniform will certainly make you stand out. She thought her name embroidered in Japanese was the coolest thing too. Thank you Tokaido team for you excellent work, quick response to order, and an amazing uniform. Keep doing what you do. I look forward to doing buisiness with you again soon. Thank you

But it turned out to be small for my European shoulders, the size is slim.

I wore my Yakudo Gi today in class and it was outstanding. They allowed me to order split sizing, and hemmed the pants. They fit great! The pants were super comfortable and I didn't have to hitch them up or adjust them at all. It was snappy and my classmates were commenting on how loud my Gi was today. It stood up to 3 hours of karate today. Also, it made it from Japan to Canada in under 3 weeks! I am so delighted with my Gi!
